Second 12-year-old charged over Kilmarnock shops fire

A second 12-year-old boy has been arrested and charged over a large fire in Kilmarnock.

It tore through several shops on Sandbed Street in the centre of the town on Monday and led to the partial collapse of a building. There were no reported injuries.

Another 12-year-old boy had already been arrested and charged on Thursday.

Both are due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.

Police Scotland said two 11-year-old boys had also been spoken to in connection with the fire and that reports would be submitted to relevant authorities.
